Our main farm is located several miles north of St
John’s Town of Dalry in the heart of Galloway. The farm lies within a
sheltered basin cradled on its northern and western sides by the
magnificent Kells Hills, one of Galloway’s highest ranges. On its
southern and eastern edges the farm falls to the confluence of the
waters of Ken and Polharrow, the rivers which create the farm’s
natural boundaries.
The soils vary from the few valuable acres of rich loams close to the
old Polharrow Bridge, the area where the farm’s winter forage is
grown, to expansive areas of peaty, heather covered hill ground where
the flock graze for most of the year.
The hill land is interspersed by the ruins of long abandoned crofts
around which the land improvements of ancient peoples are still
evident today in a stonewalled patchwork of rich clover swards midst
heather, bog myrtle, molina and wild grasses.

The diversity of soil types and plants create an ideal environment for
our hardy organic Scottish Blackface sheep and this carries through to
the unique sweet flavoursome lamb that scottishorganiclamb.com is
exclusively making available to you. From our hill to your home!
When purchasing our lamb, it means you are buying a little piece of
our labour, our fields and hills, our natural, clean environment and
ultimately the exceptional flavours of our exclusive organic lamb.
